Sue's
original home was the United Kingdom and 2 years attendance at Bourneville Secretarial College
gave her excellent qualifications and opportunities to hold positions within large corporate organizations
such as Cadbury Bros. and Barclays
Bank International as an Executive Assistant. Moving to Canada she continued to work with
top level management including a Chief Medical Officer of Health and 2 University Principals, she was always requested
to be involved with various projects that required meticulous detail, good
communication skills and wearing a multitude of hats, it was a natural progression to become an Event
Planner and she obtained a Certified Event Planner (CEP) Diploma passing with distinction and has enjoyed working within the
industry for over a dozen years. Sue was a Corporate Event/Training Planner for 10 years with an international corporation called Diageo.
This role gave her the opportunity to organize a variety of events which could be 1 - 3 days held across Canada.
In 2003 she was asked to take a position in Stamford, Connecticut, a 3 year project to organize all the logistics and coordination
of training events across the U.S. (23 markets). Creating budgets, negotiating with venues, organizing materials
through various vendors, pre-site inspections and on-site for every event - it was a hectic fast
paced role. Utilizing her expertise gathered over the years Sue was retained to create an
Event Planner Analyst role for Union Gas in Chatham, she trained the individual and then assisted the 4 person team to
put various processes and procedures in place over a 6 month period. In
October 2008 a business name was created "Key To Success"
illustrating to all clients that utilized Sue's services they would definitely achieve a success event and also acquire
an individual who would keep them within budget and on target. An opportunity arose in 2009 to organize numerous
functions and activities with students and their committee at Schulich School of Medicine, University of Western Ontario, coordinating
convocations and other events at Huron University College, 2011 a Conference for the City of London and logistics
for other business events within the area. The
world of weddings opened in 2010 and Sue was requested to coordinate an outside wedding/reception and a Jamaican wedding/reception
both were a tremendous success. In 2011 she was delighted to be a Wedding Day Coordinator for 2 East Indian Weddings
and a Moroccan Wedding Reception, guests ranged from 400-500. Her abilities and skills just keep growing
and Sue thoroughly enjoys adding this new event management dimension to the portfolio. Smart Serve Certification is a priority within the hospitality and event planning industry
that ensures all guests do not "Drink & Drive" extremely important for Sue.
![]() Volunteer Contributions 2012
- Sue pledged that she would volunteer her Event Management skills to at least 2 worthy charities and January saw an acceptance
of her expertise by the V.O.N. and United Way in Chatham. 2011 - Excellent knitting
skills gave Sue the opportunity to create and donate a number of blankets to Project Linus a non-profit organization
with many volunteers who provide security through hand crafted blankets to local children undergoing difficult situations,
especially aiming toward paediatric cancer patients. 2010 - Actively involved within
the world of networking Sue decided to take over the Manager role of the Chatham-Kent Networking LinkedIn Group, which
has grown since her involvement from an estimated 50 members to 220 (Jan 2012). In June 2010 she had
an article published in Networking Today, entitled "Is there
an Art to Networking". Sue took time out of her busy schedule to learn one of the programs and then present
at a local school for another great organization
is Junior Achievement a not-for-profit organization that delivers business and economic programs to local
and area youth. 2006 - to date - Sue believes in giving back to the community
and since 2006 has been an active volunteer member of the V.O.N. (Victoria Order of Nurses) with weekly
